Life is a beautiful magnificent thing

We here at the thehepburnmovement strive to show the diversity of pinup/vintage culture every chance we get, to show that ANYONE and everyone can be a pinup regardless of your age, sexual orientation or race. That despite the lack of representation in the media, we exist and are here to inspire others to step out into the spotlight. People from all kinds of nationalities and identities make up this community and we aim to show that with every post. We want to highlight the wide variety of pinup/vintage loving people because they come from all walks of life, and deserve to be seen. Who says internet friends can't be real friends again? If this series has taught us anything, it's that it's definitely NOT true. In fact the power of social media is what has allowed us to meet so many incredible people. We have made some of the closest friends thanks to it, and not a day goes by that we don't thank our lucky stars for this amazing community. Lola is one of the remarkable people we have met thanks to it,a self made business woman full of life, kindness, spunk and undoubtedly amazing style. It is our greatest pleasure to share her story with you today, in this weeks edition of "Any one can be a pinup"

Lola Josefine

Lola is yet another friend we met thanks to the amazing online pinup community. We met thanks to our love of vintage fashion but it's our similarities beyond that, that truly made our friendship blossom and grow. Lola is a HUGE advocate for woman's rights, as well as POC and members of the LGBTQ+ community, she is the true embodiment of a feminist and we love being able to share her journey with all of you today. She never fails to inspire us with her head strong, kickass, self made small business, sweet and spunky self. Today she is bringing light to not only her journey but her culture as well, as a Latina and Mexican pinup she wants to show all she has to offer. So without further ado, heres her story!

A different kind of pinup

Living in the sunshine state aka no season Florida, means having to find ways to spice up your predominantly summer filled wardrobe. Yes that's right,  even us pinups get tired of wearing the same thing constantly. Unlike our lucky counter parts up north, we don't get the change of seasons and wardrobes. It's all sun dresses and sun hats for us and while we long for fall weather, we know our chances are slim so we opt for the next best thing.  We like to try out different styles to keep our look from being monotone and from going mad ourselves.(can you tell how much we love the endless summer?!). Now people seem to conjure up a certain idea when they think of pinups but we can assure you,  not only do we come in all shapes and sizes but different styles too.

Afterall Anyone can be a pinup and what better way to show that than by branching out with styling ? Can you be a pinup while having a different style too? YES! We decided to Show case this for a photo shoot with Amanda from A Style Photography ,when she reached out to us to do photos for a project she was working on. The project? A jewelry company (The Enchanted Forest) came out with a new set of necklaces and they wanted her to take photos. The theme? Natural/Bohemian. The Bohemian style/subculture has origins dating back to the 1800's. Bohemian can be defined as "a person who has informal and unconventional social habits, especially an artist or writer." The fashion of the 1920's was heavily influenced in this style as seen in some of the outfits worn by Carla Bow, Mary Brian and Josephine Baker.

Culture is in your blood

This weeks wonderful pinup to be featured is one of those amazing people who are apart of the pinup community, she strives to show that there are ore sides to her culture than meets the eye, that anyone can truly be a pinup.

BRENDA

We have been loyal followers of Brenda on social media for as long as we have been apart of the pinup community, she was actually one of the very first hispanic pinups we ever laid eyes on.  We love her timeless look/elegance and her ability to stay true to herself despite all odds. Her youtube was one of the very first channels I followed to try and find hair styles that worked for my hair type, being a curly haired latina woman the other run of the mill videos simply wouldn't do. It was from there that I found her instagram/ Facebook where we later became friends. She inspired me (Paola) to truly take the plunge and become a pinup, seeing her be such a prominent role in the community made me realize that I could belong too. She never fails to inspire or motivate me to be true to myself and is the real life embodiment of our motto "Any one can be a pinup". She is a hard working, kind, down to earth, moving Mexicana who strives to show that theres more to her culture than sombreros, tacos and tequila. It is our greatest pleasure to share her story with you today.

Tale as old as time

Do you dream of Far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, or a prince in disguise? We dream of some of those things, mostly far off places on a regular basis.(Especially when mid term week comes around). So we decided to go to France, or the closest we could get anyways  at EPCOT, to celebrate the new movies release and our deep love for all things Beauty and the Beast. You know us here at thehepburnmovemnt simply can't resist a themed dress up day,and this was no exception. We decided to wear outfits inspired by Belle from Beauty and the Beast, we went with our personal favorites and added our own personal flair (after all thats what Disney bounding is all about)! We debuted these disneybounds at Disney World with our friend Katie (the dressed up dame) and our new friend Rachel (daily.disney.dreaming). Nothing brings us pinup princesses together quite like Disney and we can't wait for more adventures together!

She is kind, quirky, funny and full of life, and it is our honor to be sharing her story with you today. She's one of the many incredibly inspiring women we've met thanks to the online pinup community and we cannot begin to explain how lucky we feel to be apart of it.

Maya

We met Maya thanks to this wonderful online community, thanks to a lovely Facebook group to be specific. She started her pin up journey a lot like we did, just shopping at Modcloth and that's how our paths crossed. We were all apart of a lovely online group dedicated to buying and swapping Modcloth items. Together we grew our closets and found our own unique style and we are so glad we did. Maya is an incredibly inspiring women, a no nonsense gal who fights for equality for ALL people in this community and its our greatest pleasure to bring her front and center for all of you today.

We were searching for ourselves within each other.

 Ani
We met Ani thanks to the incredible online  pinup community we are apart of, our love of clothes is what brought us together (No exaggeration here, we literally met thanks to beautiful clothes). Now clothes and the pinup fashion may have been what brought us together but it's our shared affinity for old movies, horror films, vintage dresses, friendship turmoil and shared emotional experiences that made our friendship so strong. Today we want to introduce to you our dear friend Ani, a sweet, kind hearted pinup from Armenia with a heart of gold and a thousand watt smile. She's a hardworking, feisty, full of life and incredibly generous woman whom we are so lucky to be able to call our friend. We hope you enjoy reading her story and getting to know her the way we did.
