Living in a vintage wonderland

There aren't many things in the world that can top our love for Disney but vintage definitely gives it a run for its money,so whenever we're able to combine these two great loves of ours it makes the experience a million times more enjoyable. It takes us back in time, and allows us to pretend we're walking the same streets as Walt, that if we stay around long enough we might just bump into him. Now while we'd never go back to the 50's to stay,we'd definitely harbor a quick visit to steal all the clothes we could carry and to enjoy the Disney of the past. As the years go by,the park changes more and more, while thats not necessarily a bad thing for us,it does leave us yearning to explore as much as we can before the disney we know becomes the disney we knew. Despite us dressing up being a regular occurrence,it isn't without some adverse consequences. "You're wearing that to Disney? Do you actually go on rides? Aren't you scared to ruin it? Why get so dressed up"?

This and a whole other mirage of questions are things we get asked on a regular basis whenever we visit the parks, but vintage in particular seems to garner some extra stares and often times some interrogation.(Think along the lines of 20 questions, except we didn't agree to play). We don't let that stop us though, dressing to the nines is an integral part of who we are and we just take the questions with a smile. After all the attention isn't all bad,we get stopped to take pictures a lot and meet incredible people thanks to our style. We like to pull out our vintage/repro for disney outings because theres just no better place to dress like a princess, its also the one place we're prone to fit in a little better. Disney is like a second home to us,and if you can't be yourself at home then where can you be? We get a kick out of dressing up and enjoying all the rides, shows and memories the park has to offer. We are firm believers in the saying"One can never be too over dressed", you can wear whatever makes you happy to the parks and have a wonderful time we promise. Enjoy the magic of disney at christmastime with Katie/me and you'll see for yourselves exactly what we mean!

Its the most wonderful time of the year!

Thats right everybody Christmas time is here!! The moment we have all been eagerly waiting for, turn off your alarms, end your countdowns because the big day is finally here! Its Christmastime, and you know what that means? Two days full of endless love, laughter and a whole slew of relatives you don't get to see except for once a year. Now for those of you who've been following us for awhile, you know how near and dear christmas is to our hearts. If you're a new comer well we've got proof here and here, showing just how much christmas means to us. It is the biggest celebration of the year for us and no celebration would be complete without the perfect outfit now would it? (especially not in our book, being dressed to the nines is our speciality). We know that we did a christmas inspired look book for all of you lovely folks already, but we really wanted to share every bit of our favorite parts of the holiday with you this year and our outfits plays a huge role. Now even if you don't celebrate christmas, theres no escaping the christmas themed looks this time of year. There's the quintessential colors of red and green that everyone seems to suddenly own truck loads of. (our collection is seriously lacking, but we'll be sure to fix that for next year.). We fell along that trusted and true color scheme but with our own take of course, in true thehepburnmovemnt fashion we go big or we go home. So without further ado here are the most highly anticipated outfits of the year, our Christmas Eve and Day looks!

Paola
Unfortunately Kirsten and I were unable to spend Christmas together this year due to the fact that I went back home to visit my family, however that didn't stop us from having a wonderful time or going all out with our outfits.Christmas is a HUGE deal in my household we celebrate both the Eve and day. On the Eve we all dress to the nines, dance, laugh, eat, drink and just enjoy each others company until midnight and well into the next day. Since my family is so big we need two whole days to celebrate, but thankfully Christmas day is a bit more low maintenance we eat leftovers from the night before and just spend the day together. So for the event thats larger than life, surrounded by dozens of relatives, and endless photo opportunities I decided to pull out the fine china of my clothes (You all know what I'm talking about, the ones you keep safely tucked away for that special day). The clothes saved for such special occasions, my gorgeous one of  a kind vintage pieces. Now it wouldn't be a true outfit post if there wasn't a theme and you know thats just not how we roll here. So inspiration for my outfits, this year are my two favorite characters from Mad Men. I channel Betty on a regular basis with her full swooping skirts, perfectly coiled locks and feisty attitude beneath that seemingly innocent exterior. So it'll come as no surprise to you, my dear readers that I'm channeling her once more on Christmas  Eve. Joan on the other hand has been someone Ive admired from afar, more of an aspiration than anything else. I'm channeling the best of Joan with her Femme fatale, men snaring, no nonsense and all around badass ways and  with curves that just won't quit. After all its Christmas and if not now, then when?  This was the first time in years that I was able to spend christmas with my whole family, so I pulled out all the stops and it was the best one yet. Nothing beats spending the holidays with family and they made it unforgettable.

Kirsten
As Paola said we had to spend Christmas apart, but that just meant I got to spend more time with my family! Every family celebrates Christmas in their own way and  mine forgoes celebrating and  just focuses  on being together, it's a more laid back celebration. I even spend  half the time in pajamas I got on Christmas Eve! This year I decided I would dress up for both days (do it for the blog)! Paola is pulling out all the stops for her Christmas outfits, but I am just going all in on my Christmas Eve dress (that is when we go to mass)! I had originally bought a brand new (to me) vintage 1950's dress for this occasion, it has a belt and pockets! This vintage red dress caught my eye one day on Ebay and I knew I needed it in my life, but when I tried it on it was TOO BIG so I wore a different red dress that was already in my closet! During the day I wore the dress without a cardigan, but when the sun went down I opted for a silver cardigan and a candy cane brooch! I even got my mother and sister to wear brooches, my sister wore my vintage teddybear brooch and my mom wore the snowman brooch I made! Christmas Day we typically just lounge around in our pajamas that we opened Christmas Eve, but this year a dressed up a bit more and worn one of my favorite vintage Christmas sweaters, it has Mickey mouse in a wreath! I wore this with my hair natural in a some up some down with a poinsettia by Belleblossoms. I even managed to get photos with my two pups, Teddybear (the Belgium Shepherd) and Grace (the German Shepherd)! This was by far one of my favorite Christmas celebrations because My older siblings were there to help celebrate! My sister lives in North Carolina and my brother came from Colorado! It was the best christmas present!
