Deck The Halls: DIY style !

Theres no denying that christmas is our ABSOLUTE FAVORITE time of the year, I mean if you don't believe us just ask everyone who knows us. We literally spend all year planning for the giant celebration, from outfits to how to decorate our christmas tree, no detail is too small. That being said we know that christmas time can be hard financially for many, us included that's why this blog post will come as a nice bit of relief for all of you! (Money doesn't grow on trees, but we can at least decorate them and pretend it does). Red ornaments on a green Christmas tree? Nope can't do it, why? We don't have the money to buy the pretty red ornaments, as pinups on a budget, however we do have a way to get some without breaking the bank! We decided to do our first "holiday decorations under $10" to show that anything is possible with a budget. That's right folks now you too can have the ornaments of your dreams. We made many different types of ornaments for our tree this year but are showcasing our two favorite ones, salt dough ornaments and golden snitch (though let's be honest they are more like fairies)! Keep scrolling to learn how to make your very own ornaments!

Salt dough ornaments: things you need!
1.) Clean kitchen area

2.)  Measuring cups

3.)  1 large mixing bowl

4.) Ingredients to make the dough:

 5.). 2.5 cups warm water

6.) 1 cup of salt

7.) 4 cups of flour

8.) two cookie sheets

9.)Cookie cutters

10.)Salt

11.) A bag of flour

12.) String to hang up the ornaments

13.) Table to decorate and cut out ornament

14.) Things to decorate them with now this can be anything your little hearts desire!

We chose glitter glue, buttons and paint, as well as cookie cutter to make shapes and our apartment key to make imprint ones!

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN!

1.) Gather all the materials needed and prep your station

2.) Prepare the dough mixture, make sure to measure everything correctly!

3.) Next knead and roll the dough until its smooth

4.) Use your hands or cooke cutters to cut out shapes from the dough to make your ornaments.

5.)Prepare the cookie sheet and place the ornaments with enough space to grow on them.

6.)Preheat the oven to 375 for prime baking temperature!

7.)Then you need to bake them in an oven on 375 F for about an hour or until hard.

8.)Lastly let them cool,then decorate!

(we actually let them cool overnight and finished decorating the next day).

Golden snitch ornaments: things you need!

1.) Gold ornaments

(we chose ours from the dollar tree, they were fairly small and came with three types)

2.)Scissors

3.)Glue gun

4.)Yellow foam (for the wings)

5.)Things to decorate with (we chose glitter glue and a gold sharpie)

    ♡

HOW TO

1.)Clear your crafting area and gather all the materials.
2.)Take the sheets of felt and draw the shape you want for the wings.

3.)Once you decide on the shape, fold the sheet in half and cut the wings out.
4.)Next its time to decorate,we chose glitter glue  to add that snitch like sheen!

5.)Set the wings aside to dry and prepare the glue gun.
6.)Once the wings are dry and the glue gun is hot, connect the wings and use the glue to hold them together.

7.)Let the wings dry and prepare the ornament ball next.
8.)Decide which side you want to show off and glue the other side to the wings.

9.)Allow about 20 minutes for the ornament to dry
10.) Add string/hooks and enjoy your new golden snitch!
