Face full of besame!

We love the looks of bygone eras, one thing that  has stood the test of time more so than anything else is the ... MAKEUP! Our grandmothers have told us stories of how they wouldn't leave the house without putting makeup on first. Just a dash of lipstick they'd say, could change a bad day to a good one and we couldn't agree more. While we aren't beauty bloggers per say, our lipstick collection spans that of several dozens and counting. You can say we got our love of makeup from our grandmothers. So being the vintage loving gals we strive to find the makeup that brings us back in time. There is one brand that is looking to the past for their inspiration and that brand is Besame Cosmetics!  Besame Cosmetics is a brand that is made in California and is cruelty free! The owner Gabriela said it best "The Besame woman is timeless" and that's what we want to be! Read about the background of Besame Cosmetics on their About Us on the website! They're a brand known for their ability to capture the looks of bygone eras and are widely known in the pinup/vintage community. Will they live up to the hype? You'll have to keep scrolling to find out!

Besame Cosmetics was gracious enough to send us products to review, and we are so excited to share our thoughts with all of you.   While we are grateful to Besame for sending us these products, this  in no way influences our opinions. As always we strive to bring you 100% honest reviews on products we try. Now for this special collaboration we decided to do something a little different. We decided to focus this look on a more 1940s style to match the lipstick that was sent to us, Victory Red 1941.

REVIEW

Pictured: Cashmere Foundation in Honey and Warm tan

Kyra: I am wearing the foundation in the shade Honey, I am fair with neutral undertones so when looking at the foundations I was confused at which to choose. Honey is categorized as a medium with neutral undertones, so make sure to read reviews and look at swatches to find your correct shade. I really like the foundation, it is enough coverage for me while not covering my freckles (which I love!). I have acne prone skin with a lot of redness, but the foundation is able to easily cover it all. I have been wearing this foundation since I received it and my face has had less acne breakouts since I started. The foundation is long lasting on me, because I have worn it a full day at Disney World!

Paola: I will admit that I am a  foundation novice, having NEVER worn foundation ever due to my incredibly sensitive skin I wasn't sure what to expect. I was a bit lost when it came to shades, and under tones but after looking up numerous reviews and pictures it seemed warm tan would be the best for someone of my complexion. I have combination, and acne prone skin so I'm always wary to try new products that could cause a flare up however this foundation checked off all the boxes for me. It gave me a nice even coverage, lasted a whole Disney day and didn't make me break out. Definitely a win in my book!

Paola: Out of all the products that we tried today, this is hands down my absolute favorite. Its a multi use product for me ! I love it as an eyeliner, mascara and product for my brows. Like I mentioned above, I have combination skin. My eyes/eyebrow area tend to be the more oily portion of my face. So when looking for products to try, I need to find some that withstand the florida humidity and my oily skin. The black cake mascara did not disappoint at all. Once I used it on my eyebrows and eyelids,it did not move an inch. It lasts through photo shoots, dates, even disney days. I cannot recommend it as an eyeliner/mascara and especially eyebrow filler enough.

Kyra: The first time I used the cake mascara I only used it as eyeliner, because I couldn't figure out how to use it as mascara properly. It wasn't until a couple uses later that I figured out that you need to add enough water to make it into a paste. I tried just wetting the brush and rubbing it into the brick, but found that adding the water directly to the brick made it easier to mix to the constancy I needed. I like it now, I have watery eyes and am a constant eye rubber, and so I have a hard time keeping eyeliner from moving but this didn't move as much as my other eyeliners.

Pictured:  Kyra- Blush in Rose Delicate Rouge (1915)  Paola- Sweet Pink Delicate Rouge (1969)

Paola: I love blush, other than eyeliner and lipstick it's the one step I never skip in my makeup routine. Its my favorite thing to apply, because it just warms up and adds color to any face. Due to my tan complexion, I'm always struggling to find the perfect balance of color. I want it to show, but not look like I'm wearing pounds of blush. This blush is anything but delicate, it packs a powerful pop of color with just one swipe. Its exactly what I've been looking for and I see it becoming my go to blush!

Kyra: The delicate rouge might say "translucent", but don't let it fool you! This rouge packs a punch! The sweet pink shade is the perfect shade for my skin tone, I prefer pink blushes so this was perfect! There will be kick up, but that is expected from a powder blush. I now own two different shades the Sweet Pink and the Raspberry, I have been using sweet pink as my daily blush because it is a tad lighter and more of a pink than the raspberry which has a slight purple hue.

Kyra: While I prefer lip stains most days (because it is transfer proof) the Besame lipsticks are my favorite lipstick formula! This isn't the first time I used Besame I happened to own quite a few of their lipsticks and have loved every shade. I am able to go a full day without reapplying, unless I am eating greasy food, and they can last though a day at Disney World! I will admit that they can be a tad drying, so make sure to use chapstick before hand.

Paola: Much like Kyra I also prefer lipstains, since they are kiss proof. However that doesn't mean I don't own or like my fair share of lipsticks. In fact Besame's lipsticks were the frst thing that drew me to the company, they reminded me of the ones my grandma used and still owns to this day. There's something special and just reminiscent about by gone eras in their design, I had to try them! I love the formula, its super long lasting, once blotted doesn't move and fades into a nice stain after wearing it all day. Like Kyra mentioned they are a bit drying, but nothing chapstick can't fix. Theyre definitely my new go to lipstick!

Overall thoughts of the brand!

Every product we tried we enjoyed using and can see becoming a part of our daily routine. While they are a bit on the pricier side with the lipsticks raging between $22-$25 dollars, we personally feel the quality matches the price point. One main improvement we would like to see from the company in the future is a broader range of foundation shades, we love the formula and we would love to see it being able to cater to more individuals. While we do have somethings we would like to see Besame change and improve upon, we love the company and will continue to use each and every product! For quality, packaging, product, design and quality we give Besame a 10/10. We  say Besame is  definitely "Thehepburnmovement" approved! Look forward to more looks with Besame products in the near future!

We hope you enjoyed this week's  Spotlight Sunday! Besame is a house hold name in all pinup/vintage enthusiasts lives and for good reason. We were blown away by the packaging, design and kindness they have shown us. The quality of the products definitely reflect the price, and there's no wonder Besame is skyrocketing to stardom. We simply cannot recommend their products enough and while we have a few  improvement suggestions we truly feel the pros outweigh the cons. If you're looking for a makeup line with all the glamour of bygone eras, than look no further than Besame!
