Do more of what makes you happy

We here at the thehepburnmovement strive to show the diversity of pinup/vintage culture every chance we get, to show that ANYONE and everyone can be a pinup regardless of your age, sexual orientation, or race. That despite the lack of representation in the media, we exist and are here to inspire others to step out into the spotlight. People from all kinds of nationalities and identities make up this community and we aim to show that with every post. We want to highlight the wide variety of pinup/vintage loving people because they come from all walks of life, and deserve to be seen. This weeks pinup is...

Words can not even begin to describe how happy I am to be able to include Miriam as part of our series. When I first started getting into pinup/vintage styles, I never saw any other women like me. All of them were a lot taller, full of curves, legs for miles, and predominantly white. I stumbled upon Miriam's account by chance a few years ago and seeing her completely inspired me. She is not only a proud latina like me but she is also incredibly petite at 4'11, she doesn't let that get in her way and now neither will I. She is so incredibly, kind, hard working, inspiring and incredible, it is an honor to share her story with all of you today. She is a true testament to believing in your dreams, working hard to achieve them and never letting anything get in the way of them. That regardless of where you come from, your height, your age, ethnicity etc. as long as you believe and fight for your dreams, theres nothing you can't achieve. I hope you'll be as inspired by her story as I am!

When did you get into the pinup/vintage life style?

I've always been a fan of this style when I was 10 years old. My grandmother would always make her own clothes and love this style but I never really got into it until high school. It was my senior year of high school that I finally had the confidence to actually dress up and start making my own clothes. Ever since then I haven't felt so beautiful and happy with myself, it's like I love myself more and more each day.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is my grandmother and mom, because thanks to them I learned how to make my own clothes and to get into this beautiful lifestyle.
How does it feel to be a WOC in the pinup/vintage community?

It feels great to be a WOC in this pinup vintage community because I feel comfortable within my own skin. Not only that but this just goes to show that anyone can be part of this beautiful lifestyle.

We hope you enjoyed this week's "Anyone can be a pinup post". Miriam's story is one that resonated with both of us, Paola especially. It is a story that deserves to be heard, shared and spread all over. If you aren't following her, you definitely should because she is truly inspirational, beautiful both inside and out.
