Retro (near) Orlando part 4

We recently came across a cute little shop in downtown Ocala (located in Central Flordia) called The Mustard Seed Collection. This store is a breath of fresh air, it is so aesthetically  pleasing and the owner was incredibly kind and friendly. She made the whole entire experience not only memorable but so enjoyable we simply can't wait to go back and visit. We found countless beautiful antiques from hats to furniture and one adorable robotic miniature horse. (Can you say Little Sebastian realness?) If you are looking for unique and beautiful pieces for your home then this is the place to go, the store has a vast assortment of gorgeous furniture and other items! One of our favorite things about the Mustard Seed Collection is the fact that the owner was so sweet and actually wanted us to play dress up! She was an absolute sweetheart, who even took some of the photos of us as well!  She gave us our very own personal tour and had a ball seeing us in action. She was so moved that we chose to feature her store on our blog and it filled our hearts with warmth. (We're suckers for amazing small businesses with even more amazing owners to boot). We can't wait for you to see what this amazing little vintage treasure has to offer, keep scrolling to read all about it.

Behind the magic

Now as you may have noticed we aren't big on accessorizing, especially not with hats because quite frankly we never know how or where to wear them too. However as soon as we walked in the sweet owner exclaimed that she'd been waiting for an occasion to show this darling hat off. We were so surprised and honored by her enthusiasm we just had to share some pictures in it with you. As we continued to browse the shop with her pointing out some of the best spots we found a lovely little tea corner & miniature horse we simply had to pose with. We are connoisseurs of tea, we can't get enough of it and we felt right at home sitting in that little corner of the world. (we have weekly tea parties with friends, our love for tea runs deep).  Now as to the miniature horse it reminded us rather fondly of a show we both love and one of our personal favorite characters from there. (Bye bye Little Sebastian anyone?) When we found the little horse she turned it on for us and it actually moved, wagged it's tail, moved it's ears and even neighed. The horse was a fun little surprise for us due to the fact that we both have a slight (if not irrational) fear of them so our faces were too precious not to post! There was one section in particular we really enjoyed and that was the thrifting section that included clothes, accessories etc., now the reason we enjoyed it so much was because the proceeds went towards helping animals. Nothing tugs  at our heart strings quite  like that and we can't wait to go back and explore it some more. There were so many different spots in the shop we simply loved it was hard to pick our favorite,so we included some more pictures in a slide show down below and hope you enjoy getting a peek of "The Mustard Seed Collection".

Becoming Betties:Cruising in style

A while ago we mentioned that we were joining the BrickCity Betties, a pinup group that does volunteer events in the central Florida area.(it feels like ages ago, doesn't it?). Due to terrible weather and school we haven't had a chance to be as active as we'd hoped but thats all about to change since we are finally free + come sunshine or rain we'll be at every event we can be! We plan to make the most of our time together with the Betties and be apart of something greater and bigger than we could have ever imagined possible. We were so excited that we were finally able to participate in our first event with this  lovely group of ladies,we just had to share. The event we went to was a car show called hot cars and cool cats where some of the proceeds went to E.A.R.S (endangered animal rescue sanctuary). Now as many of you know we've got a pretty big soft spot for animals,so this event truly spoke to us and we decided to attend no matter what.(we love animals, theres no doubt about it & this was our chance to prove it in the best way possible). Not a lot of people know about E.A.R.S and all they do, so we not only helped raise money towards it but also spread awareness about an incredible place. It was so much fun to volunteer as well as see all the hard work people put into refurbishing these old cars. We love being able to volunteer our services to help out such an amazing cause & posing with cute cars is just an added bonus!

Cruising in style
Now when we say posing with cute cars is a bonus it's the understatement of the century. These cars featured here are works of art, as one car owner put it "I've invested countless hours, sweat, blood tears & money to make this dream a reality".We felt honored to be able to participate in this event among such incredible relics. There were so many beautiful cars to choose from that taking pictures with just a few was hard,so although we only posed with a few we decided to include pictures of some of our favorites as well. These are all truly investment pieces that stand as a true testament to what hard work, love and determination can really do & we are so happy to be able to share this experience with you through our pictures.

 Bit of The Betties
Since this car show was bright & early on a saturday not many of the Brick City Betties/Beaus could make it however those who did made the event all the more memorable for us. They showed us newbies the ropes from staying hydrated to properly measuring the length of a car for the ticket raffle( thats right we measured cars using tickets & it was every bit as awesome as it sounds). We shared with them  one of our signature poses and plenty of smiles, laughter and sweat as we walked around the even trying  to raid money for E.A.R.S. It  was our first time doing an event with this wonderful group but certainly not our last.

We hope you enjoyed our first Bettie adventure post, this is only the beginning for us ! We feel deeply grateful to be able to be apart of such an amazing group full of kind & selfless individuals, striving to make a difference in the name of pinups & all things fabulous everywhere ! This experience really opened our eyes to the opportunities around us to make a difference + that dreams are only as unattainable as you make them seem. We spent years hoping to find a way to truly make an difference while doing what we loved & it's safe to say we finally found it! (Who says you can't be dressed to the nines + make a change ? Certainly not us !).One thing we learned from this experience is that you need to follow whatever makes you happy. Some of the people that refurbished these beautiful cars spent countless months, years even on them , not to count how much money they spent to make their dreams come true! You could tell from every little smile that we saw, from everyone  that participated in the car show loved what they do. We are looking forward to more amazing experiences that come with being Betties! We hope that you find something you are passionate about and go for it,regardless of whether it's old cars or baking the perfect cupcake ! (In which case we'd definitely like to be your test tasters, to ensure its just right ofcourse!). Go out there and chase your dreams whatever they may be ,  there is no dream too small or too big to be achieved . If you're scared you'll never reach  it , don't be because you'll never know until you try ! If you have any comments questions or want to share your dream with us feel free to comment down below & we'll do our best to reply ASAP.
