Becoming Betties: Do it for the Vets!

No we aren't talking veterinarians although they're pretty important , we're talking about veterans in this particular post. (Rest assured if there was a veterinarians event we'd be all over it!) Showing our inner patriotism & support for all the sacrifices they make +everything they do for us! In mid May we did a car show whose proceeds went to Veternans of Foreign Affairs, this was an amazing experience. Kirsten's family is an Army family with both her mother and father serving, so this event resonated deeply with her and we knew we had to do it. We decided to take it upon ourselves to wear red, white, and blue in honor of those who served and continue to serve in the armed forces. To commemorate this occasion even further & to protect ourselves from the suns vicious rays we decided to don our first sun hats of the year. We welcome in the Florida summer with some timeless elegance & always fashionable ensembles!

Rolling with the homies
At this event we got to work with some new people! We are pretty new to BCB (Brick City Betties) so we are still getting to know some of the member and become friends! The event was held by Love Ocala partnered with vets helping vets. They raised almost $1000 in only an hour of auctioning. They had 14 baskets, from local businesses and surrounding areas including Busch Gardens, St Augustine Alligator Farm, and Manatee Paddle in Crystal River. Every cent was out towards an amazing cause & we felt honored to be apart of it.

Arrived in style
Seeing all these gorgeous cars meant we had to do an impromptu photoshoot! Incase you were wondering it was slightly windy hence the hat holding in almost every photo. The owners of these beauties were sweet enough to allow us to pose with them and some even let us in the car! Since Kirsten does all the driving she got to sit in the drivers seat!  outfits

We hope that everyone has a safe and pleasant memorial day weekend, regardless of whether you support what it stands for or not. We would like to dedicate this post to all the men & women who have served, will serve or are serving for our country. Thank you for everything that you do! Since this subject can get pretty heavy we decided to keep our post light and focus on the good we accomplished in honor of their sacrifices. Although this was only our second Betty event,we hope you can get an idea of just how influential + amazing they truly are. Don't be afraid to go out there and make a difference join a local group, sign up for that fundraiser or start a chapter of your own you'll never know what differences you'll make or whose life you'll change. Life is far too short and precious to sit on the sidelines especially when you're yearning to leave a lasting impact on the world, we promise you won't regret it.
