We do,thats right you heard it here first WE ARE WEARING PANTS. (Hold your loved ones close,its the apocalypse say your last goodbyes everybody).Its weird for us too but we're all about getting out of our comfort zone and trying something new. We hardly wear pants, but every now and then they come out to play! The best way to keep the pinup/retro look while wearing pants is to find some that are form fitting and high waisted. Other styles that work are capris,wide leg,tight and cuffed legged pants.When styling pants we thought of a few of our favorite fashion icons and how they would style pants, mostly Audrey.(lets be honest its always audrey,she's the name sake of our blog after all). We drew inspiration from some of our favorite outfits of hers. Audrey wore slacks quite a lot within movies and daily life, she had a very gamine style and when she wore pants they would be classy and tailored. What we love most about the way that Audrey wore pants or quite frankly anything for that matter is she did it while still looking incredibly elegant. She had this effortless chic and classy air about her and thats what we wanted to channel in our outfits. We are no strangers to achieving this look in dresses or skirts but pants are a whole other story.(They're uncharted territory for us). Despite our hesitation we drew inspiration and some courage from our favorite leading lady and donned on some adorable outfits,pants included! We wanted you our readers to see that skirts and dresses arent the only way to achieve the retro/pinup look! Pants are an easy and usually relatively cheap way to achieve this look. They are also a low maintenance option for those who can't be bothered to fuss with belts and petticoats or shorts under to not accidentally flash people.(that last part is crucial because it has happened to us more times than we care to admit haha). Below are a few of our favorite reference photos.They helped us in choosing our coordinating outfits together,because if you're going to try something new you might as well do it with your best friend!

Inspiration
Now there's no denying that Audrey is a style maven. (We'd say was but she's still inspiring people around the world us included), so using her outfits as inspiration was obvious. However despite her fashion savvy ways her outfits didn't exactly cater towards the endless Florida heat and sunshine. We don't have seasons here,it's just one big endless summer so we had to cater our outfits towards warmer climate styles.Not that we minded at all, since Its how we dress year round.(trying not to overheat).Some of our favorite things to pair with pants (when we do decide to wear them, once in a blue moon) are high neck tops, halter tops, button downs, crop tops and even normal t-shirts just tucked in. It all depends on the look we are going for and also the degree of heat outside because some things are more bearable than the others when Florida sun is in full swing. Finding what works best for you requires a bit of trial and error. It's about discovering what flatters your shape & truly compliments your body type! Kirsten is rather short torsoed as opposed to the average and Paola is just tiny in general so finding pants that fit and flatter can be a hassle, but we aren't so easily discouraged! Although we tend to shy away from pants we were determined to find some and make them work to give you more outfit styling options. Both of the capris we wore are Kirsten's, she got them both at second hand stores. Giving proof once again that you don't have to spend a lot of money to look like a million bucks! Afterall pinup on a budget is our motto and we intend to stick to it no matter what!

We hope you enjoyed our pants styling,although it was definitely something out of the norm for us we are very glad we tried it( Minnie even got a kick out of it and wanted to be part of the action). Now remember ladies and gents that pants are just like any other article of clothing they require some chutzpah to pull off. You need confidence & a killer attitude to boot, they're the winning combination that make you look amazing in whatever you wear! So the next time you're getting dressed , pull out that item you're scared to wear , have never worn or keep saying you'll wear and make it a reality! Destroy the silly fashion and clothes rules you set for yourself if for nothing more than to try it once. You never know what'll happen you may just fall in love and wished you hadn't wasted so much time hating something that looks amazing on. The verdict on pants is still out for us but we do admit it was fun to try something new!
