That despite the lack of representation in the media, we exist and are here to inspire others to step out into the spotlight. People from all kinds of nationalities and identities make up this community and we aim to show that with every post. We want to highlight the wide variety of pinup/vintage loving people because they come from all walks of life, and deserve to be seen. This week's pinup is no different,in fact she's got a heart of gold and a super sweet personality to boot. She spreads, sunshine, love, body positivity and welcomes everyone with open arms regardless their gender, orientation ethnicity etc. Those are just some of the amazing qualities that make her perfect for this weeks edition of "Any one can be a pinup" and we are delighted to share her story with you.

CORY
Have you ever met someone whose smile lights up a room? What about someone whose smile lights up the Internet? This week's pinup is someone who's personality shines so bright and who's smile literally lights up the world! We want to introduce you to Cory or the smiley pinup! We originally came across Cory on Instagram and were captivated by not only her beautiful smile but also her charming personality! She is the embodiment of positivity and love, she spouts body positivity, self love and acceptance for all and we hope you enjoy getting to know this ray of sunshine!
When did you get into the pinup life style?
I got into the pinup lifestyle fairly recently. However, I have always adored the style. My Facebook memories will populate different pictures of pinup gals, I have shared on my feed from many years ago. Back when I was a sophomore in high school, that is when I first truly started developing my love for all things pinup and polka dot. That being said, I never had the confidence to actually get dolled up. Throughout high school and the first 3 years of college, I suppressed my longing to become The Smiley Pinup. However, one day it all changed for me, my oldest brother got married back in early 2014 and it gave me the confidence and special occasion I needed to try it out. I styled my very first pinup outfit, I had a baby doll little black dress, Shirley Temple socks with the fluff, and full on bumper bangs. I was so excited to showcase my outfit I had pulled off all by myself and everyone's reaction to it was so motivational. I continued to rock my Vans and concert tees to school for a couple more years, but was concocting a plan to go all out my Senior year and that is exactly what I did. I created my Instagram page about a year ago and started documenting all of my outfits.Like they say, the rest was history! I also got inspiration from many girls on Instagram and of course different Vintage Queens and slowly started to style myself. Everyone knows me at school and work as "That Pinup Girl" but I correct them and say,"No, I'm The Smiley Pinup".
Who is your biggest style inspiration?
My biggest style inspirations would have to be Billie Holiday and Elizabeth Taylor. Almost every time I decide to wear some kind of hair flower look, I go for the giant double hair flower look because of them. They are so beautiful and I try to rock them as well as Billie did. I also really love to sing and so we are connected in that way too. My favorite thing ever is when someone randomly tells me that I remind them of Billie Holiday. My heart jumps a bit because she was so beautiful. Moreover, I have ADORED Liz Taylor's style for years. I have always had hair on the shorter side, but recently I went for the pixie look so I could style my hair just like Liz did when she had a pixie. I plan to recreate some of her looks soon to show how much she inspires me. They are the epitome of classic vintage, they are the QUEENS of QUEENS to me. I also get inspiration from the lovely ladies I follow on Instagram. If it wasn't for their extra inspiration, I would not be the stylish pinup I am today. Much love to you ladies!
How does it feel to be a minority in the pinup community?
Lastly, being a WOC in the pinup community is pretty awesome. I am half Salvadorian and half Black American. I love that I have two different cultures that I can incorporate into my pinup fashion. Moreover, I LOVE seeing vintage pictures of Black pinups. They seriously just take my breath away every time I see them. Being a Black pinup really makes me feel good because I know I am forever connected to those same Black pinups that I adore from the past. Also that I am able to share my love for this style and fashion with others just like me. I really love the skin I am living in. With all this being said and with me being so proud, I would also like to mention that I find inspiration in ALL pinups. I found my way and fit right in and want others like me to see that they can do it too. Above all, I bring a lot of diversity,I have beautiful brown skin, short hair, and I'm little bit chubby. I am proud of that and own it because I am my own kind of pinup. I am SO proud to be in a position where I can be THE hero for many girls to come.
