Picture Perfect Picnic

The sun is shining, with the occasional spring shower, and so the best way to spend the day is by having a picnic with your best friend! When we think of picnics we think gingham and fruit. They're a match made in heaven, they're like the quintessential picnic staples. So we knew for our picnic themed shoot,we had to don a little bit of both. We've been working to branch out to different styles and truly get the best of our wardrobe and this gave us a chance to try out another kind of look. People often confuse pinup and rockabillly, when in fact  they are two separate things. Despite their differences we felt it would be fun to mix the two styles together and create our own spin on them.

We recently got a chance to work with Michael of Sonacity Productions and decided to embrace the beautiful weather the best way possible! We took photos in the Winter Park area, which is a part of the Orlando area known for being beautiful (and  for our avid readers out there, the place John Green grew up).

These outfits were a bit more of the pinup/rockabilly look that we don't typically wear, but it was fun to try something new! Both gingham and cherry prints are very common in the pinup community as well as fashion in general. Some of the staples in the rockabilly look are gingham, cherries, and scarves so we decided to dip our toes in and try it out. We looked to some of our favorite more rockabilly babes for inspiration like The Cherry Dollface. Our love for quirky prints usually has us shy away from the more stereotypical looks, other than polka dots of course but who can say no to matching dresses with your best friend? Not us thats for sure, it made branching out a lot easier and more entertaining because we did it together.

OUTFITS

If you are in the central Florida area and need a great photographer who is easy to work with we recommend Michael of Sonacity Photography (all links below). He helped us capture the picture perfect pinup look and our goofy friendship all in one shoot. We cannot sing his praises enough and look forward to many more shoots together! Here are some of the other photos from our shoot with Sonacity Photography!

We hope you enjoyed this weeks new foray into the fashion world, we promise we aren't having existential crisis. (It's a little too late for that). We are just exploring different facets of the lovely community we are apart of and ourselves as well. While others pine for the summer sun, we don't think of it that fondly after all we spend our whole year surrounded by it. The summer months tend to make us a bit boorish and lazy when it comes to our style, but we are determined to change that this year. Expect many more fun fashion adventures, captured so eloquently by either ourselves and a tripod or photographer friends alike. After all fashion is always changing, constantly so why stay in the same place forever? Don't think that because you like a certain style you have to limit yourself. We promise you, even in our own little niche of the fashion world, the choices are endless!

If you have any comments, questions or even suggestions on what style you'd like to see us feature next, feel free to comment below and we'll do  our  best to reply in a timely manner.

As always thanks for reading, may your days be filled with pretty dresses, dapper clothes & a lot of happiness.
