Tried and true: Fab Five Brands

As some of you may know we are both bunny loving girls! We are huge advocates of cruelty free lives and truly believe that we can be beautiful without harming animals. We have both been  using ONLY cruelty free makeup for a couple of years now and have it down to a science! (Disclaimer: we do not shame those who use products that DO test on animals we are simply sharing our information with the world in hopes that it will help those out there with questions and also show cruelty free alternatives). This post just shows some of our  favorite brands that we use on a regular basis. Since we are both poor college students the majority of brands that we have tried and love are drugstore and inexpensive, with the occasional high end one.  We decided to come up with a list of our top 5 cruelty free brands that we have personally tried products from and tell you about them! The brands are in no order! Who made our list and why are they so amazing? Well the first thing that makes EVERY one of these brands great is that they are cruelty free (meaning they do not test on animals), and on top of that each brand has some vegan options so theres something out there for everyone!

 Too Faced

This might be on the pricier side but it's worth it! We have been using the Better Than Sex mascara from Too Faced for almost a year now and are in LOVE, WE honestly don't know if we will ever be the same without it. Its incredible it lengthens and volumizes at the same time giving us the most perfect eyelashes. They also have some of the nicest bronzers we have ever tried, as well as super pigmented eyeshadows, lipsticks and blushes. If you feel like splurging we highly recommend giving them a try ,you won't regret it.

 E.L.F.

This company is the best bang for your buck! Product prices range, but start as low as $1.00. I (Kirsten) am currently using their acne fighting foundation and it is great, very good coverage and I have been seeing some results. I also adore the color correcting powder, I have fair skin so this is my setting powder when mixed it ends up being like a translucent powder. We have also tried their eyeshadows, blush, lipstick, face primer, lip primer, eyeliner and much more and we have not been disappointed! I (Paola) swear by elf's eyeliner,if I'm wearing eyeliner (which I usually always am) there  is a 99% chance its Elf. Don't let the small price tag fool you, it is worth that and so much more. The color pay off and longevity is comparable to its more expensive and non cruelty free counter parts.

  Milani

This company makes lipsticks that smell so sweet and have amazing pigmentation. We can honestly say that we own a lot of lip products, but our Milani lipsticks are by far some of our favorites. Best Red which is a true red is a go to for both Paola and I, it goes on so smooth and smells like jelly ranchers. Recently we have also been trying their eyeshadows, which have amazing color pay off! We are excited to try more things by this company in the future!

NYX

It might not be the best known, but it should be. When it comes to lipsticks this brand is a winner! They are like skittles, but this time you can wear the rainbow. They are on the cutting edge of colors and making affordable high end quality makeup! They have a variety of different lines to choose from thees the round creamy lipsticks, the matte, and the soft matte lip creams. We are a fan of all of these and today we'll be featuring two of our favorite soft matte lip creams from NYX in our makeup looks. We both swear by NYX lip products we've yet to branch out on other products  by them yet but we've never been let down before and are itching to try them.

 Wet n' Wild

This and Elf are the most inexpensive yet most incredible drugstore gems out there. Their lipsticks are incredibly pigmented and long lasting. We also both adore the eyeshadow palettes and decided to wear them in some of the looks. When it comes to lipstick they have something for everyone, a matte red to a glossy pink! They've even got things at different price ranges and different finishes to show the variety of their products. We both own over 75% of the wet n wild matte lipstick line. (We love it so much we basically wear one everyday, had to force ourselves to switch it up for this post haha). When we're not wearing Milani's best red our go to red is usually Stop light Red by Wet n Wild. Our love for the brand doesn't end in lipsticks however four daily eyeshade looks are also wet n wild eye shadow quads.

We hope you enjoyed getting an idea of how we achieve our everyday looks and our two cents on some of our favorite brands/ products. We love these brands not only for their amazing quality and affordability but because they are kind to our furry friends. We hope that we've given you a  variety of new brands and options to try all in various price ranges and you can find one that works with your budget. If you have any more brands you'd like us to review/talk about or have any comments/ questions about the ones featured here feel free to comment below and we'll do our best to reply and help out.

  1. Thank you so much for writing this post! It's so hard to find good makeup, and that gets even harder if you want cruelty-free and/or vegan options. I will definitely have to try out the Too Faced mascara. Is it waterproof?
