Ladies and gentleman prepare to be amazed, dazzled, stunned, simply blown away etc. by this amazing piece of news! We have been into the pinup lifestyle for a while now but have never really felt fully immersed (we're pass the toes in the water stage, it's more like we're only waist deep). Until recently we hadn't really delved into anything other than just dressing in the style, listening to the music of the era, watching movies etc. Now for most people this is more than enough and quite frankly we don't blame them, becoming a full fledged pinup takes hard work, dedication, commitment, time and energy. These are all things we both posses but didn't have anywhere to direct them too, due to the fact that before moving we both resided in a small town that didn't exactly adhere to our style. In fact for lack of a better term we stuck out like sore thumbs (think last kids to get picked for any team, except incredibly well dressed and thats us). Our style isn't one that many people could really wrap their heads around and we didn't have a place that we belonged too, however we longed to find a niche to call our own. We wanted to meet like minded individuals, ladies and fellas with the same sense of style, same appreciation for the type of music and movies we loved. We wanted to ACTUALLY be apart of the pinup community, we are lucky enough to be apart of the collective "We" thanks to brands like PUG + Social media /Facebook groups dedicated to them but have yet to find that sense of camaraderie and friendship in real life until now.
Bona fide Betties
It was a lot closer to home than either of us expected! Our pinup journey brought us right back to where we went to high school, a place neither of us thought we would want to go back. Now we are excited to return to Ocala for monthly meetings with The BrickCity Betties! Being a Bettie is more than just being a pretty face they are a volunteer group, which is one of the reasons we took the leap and became Betties! Every month we are going to go to one meeting and at least one activity and we hope to share them with you! Our first Bettie experience was meeting the lady that started it all... Pinkie Paige! She is an independent and beautiful business woman who wants to make an impact in the world while bringing a little class and culture back too.
