Now we are all mixed up

Hey everybody, we want to apologize for the brief sabbatical we took over the last week.(it totally wasn't intentional and we missed you like crazy.. in a we appreciate our readers kind of way not a creepy stalker sort of way haha). We grossly underestimated the time needed to adjust to our new schedules and we got caught up with it all, we had our hands full and couldn't find the time to write up new posts. School can be a bit of a doozy in that sense and we were definitely taken by surprise by it.However we promise we're back for good and are back to our regular posting schedule! We've got some fun things planned so keep your eyes peeled.
Todays post is as the title suggests  all about pattern mixing! I think it's been pretty well established that we love novelty prints! Just incase you have any doubts of our deep love of them ,we decided to try and mix prints to the best of our ability. To show that novelty prints can be just as versatile as solid pieces !  The key is to focus on a color or two that the prints have in common or just choose an outrageous one and a more subtle one (like stripes or even polka dots!). Many times people feel afraid to mix bold and loud prints for fear of looking too outlandish or strange. What do we have to say to that? "TOSS THOSE FEARS ASIDE YOU ARE A NEW YOU TODAY! A YOU THAT IS FEARLESS AND ADVENTUROUS + WON'T LET ANYTHING STAND IN YOUR WAY OF BEING UTTERLY FASHIONABLE & FABULOUS".(We're yelling lovingly and encouragingly we promise <3) We hope to inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and try new ways to pair things with this post.

OUTFITS

I (Paola) decided to go the stripes route and used them as a different colored pattern altogether to bring out the uniqueness of the patterned skirts. I'm going to be honest and say that this is my ABSOLUTE favorite way of wearing patterns. Some people get a thrill from perfectly matching a color on the skirt/or dress but not I, instead I love finding a different kind of stripe to pair with it. Something about stripes just works perfectly with patterns its that amazing balance, you think it won't work and it'll be to busy but its actually quite the opposite. To show my love of stripes and patterned skirts I included two outfits to not only give you an idea of how it works with different colors /patterns but also different stripes. Although both tops are off the shoulder and striped thats where their similarities end. The black and white striped top has wider stripes that pair well with the overall busy theme of the atomic print skirt, whereas the thin stripes of the red add a fun and unexpected pop of color to the castle print skirt.Put a little pizzaz in your outfit, get outside of your comfort zone & theres a whole world waiting for you out there once you take that first step.

I (Kirsten) decided Go BOLD or go home! Polka dots is seen as the quintessential pattern for pinups, its the one we all start off with it seems and the one most of us continue to love,at least we do. (We hear you other ladies grieving but polka dots are timeless, theres no denying that!). The reason we still harbor a not so secret love for polka dots, is because despite their "busy" nature they are extremely versatile. You can wear polka dots with just about anything & look fabulous doing it. To put the cherry ontop I not only decided to mix two patterns, I decided to do three!! My tights double as a way to keep warm and another pattern mixture to try. This outfits definitely not for the faint of heart because it packs quite the punch but thats what pattern mixing is all about. The very first rule and truly the only rule in fashion that matters is "Dress in a way that makes you happy & you'll always look good".We are firm believers in this mantra and will be saying it till the day we die (because obviously we'll be fashionable even on our death beds its just a given).
